Last weekend the 24h Dubai took place at the 5.39km (3.35 miles) long track in the United Arab Emirates. In many respects the race was a first for Max Nilsson. It was his first 24h race with a new car in a new team.

Max Nilsson Will Compete in the 24h Dubai in a Mercedes

The Swedish pilot is starting the 2012 motorsports season early and with a debut. Nilsson will compete for team Heico Motorsport from Germany in his first 24h race from 12 - 14 January 2012.

Max Nilsson . 24h of Dubai 2012The team will provide a Mercedes Benz SLS GT3 AMG, which he tested thoroughly during a few days in 2011. He will share the high torque car with the German pilots Bernd Schneider and Christian Buhk, Dutch Christiaan Frankenhout and Venezuelan Rodolfo Gonzalez for the 24h race.

Currently in intensive preparation, Max Nilsson is looking forward to the dessert race: “I am very excited because I have never competed in a 24h race before. However, the team is perfectly prepared; we have a competitive car and great pilots in the car. I intent to complete the 24h race without damages and with great lap times.
I am also looking forward to racing in the Emirates again. In the past two years I competed in the FIA GT1 in Abu Dhabi and I would not want to miss that experience.”

Highlights of the race will be broadcast live on sports channel Motors TV for 12 hours.
